The year is young and there's no time like the present for moving toward the life that you desire.
Resisting change is normal. No one likes change. We’re all creatures of habit. But, if we cling to our comfort zone we can’t move forward.
Many people get so stuck and frozen in “fear paralysis”, that they do not know how to get unstuck or where to turn for help, so they try to go it alone and give up on their dreams with no resolve, no plans for the future.
In many cases, they actually do things that move them further away from their goals.
Does this sound like you?
I see this with my clients all the time. They’re overworked, overwhelmed with all the plates that they are juggling (kids, career, finances, aging parents, etc.) that they get “Stuck in the Muck” and can’t move forward.
They want to make changes, even make resolutions and plan for it, but, “stuff” gets in the way. Then, when unexpected change happens, they don’t know how to handle it. And, it will happen, as we all know.
Remember those resolutions?
Here’s some tips to get you back on track:
Choose to change- think about how it will impact your life, personally, professionally, financially, emotionally and physically.
Plot the course- When I work with my clients to plan out their vision for the year, we create a blueprint- you can create your own list of the things that need to happen to make the change successful.
Set small, achievable goals. Inch by inch, It’s a cinch!
Stick to the plan. This often requires a coach or accountability partner to keep you on course. Make the investment in yourself.
Be patient. Chances are that what you are looking to change, did not happen overnight. Don’t expect to fix it overnight.
With the right strategies, you can move forward toward creating the changes necessary to help you accomplish your goals. We can learn to reframe how we look at change. In fact, most people find that in retrospect, the change that they feared and dreaded the most, was actually an opportunity. Moving out of our comfort zone is how we grow!
